Betrayal at krondor dosbox
It's been almost a decade since I first played BaK. First time I'm hearing the cd music (and it only took ~10 years, ubuntu and dosbox to pull it off). (Perhaps because of the old hardware.)Īnyway, I tried your solution, and it worked perfectly. It must have defaulted to midi for me always. I have played the game a lot (the puzzles were great!), but I can't remember hearing the cd music ever. Any help would be greatly appreciated.įunny thing is, I also still have that cd (a SierraOriginals from way back). The game is a favorite of mine and the music is truly great, otherwise I wouldn't go through so much trouble.
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR DOSBOX ISO
Making an iso or some type of image would be even better, but as far as I know. Is there a way to mount the audio part of the disc? I need the audio part present in a way that can talk to dosbox. When I pop the CD in Ubuntu, I'm asked if I want to browse data or play audio, the play audio option just takes me to the 'sound juicer' ripping app.
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR DOSBOX WINDOWS
I know it works in Windows because both parts of the mixed mode disc are accessible to the operating system, and mounting in dosbox picks them up both. My question is this: How can I accomplish this in Ubuntu? I've accomplished this setup successfully in windows by mounting the cd in dosbox like so: The data portion is only needed once for the install, but the music part is always needed. The game's music is played from the CD (Redbook Audio), the CD is a mixed mode disc. The game runs fine, but not the CD Audio. I'm trying to run an old DOS classic - Betrayal at Krondor - through the DosBox emulator under Ubuntu 7.10. Maybe one of you could shed insight on this problem. There really isn't anything worth a shit on the horizon.I've been searching the 'net for a few days now trying to find an answer to this with no luck. Lands of lore is another I want to play again. I couldn't believe how bad return to krondor was, sadly. If you want to go through krondor via decamp on the teeth, you can, though likely this will get your ass kicked.
BETRAYAL AT KRONDOR DOSBOX SERIES
IWD2, you literally had an EXACT series of steps you took for most of the game. One of the important things is to be able to explore and to not feel like you are on fucking rails. Most games have at best an illusion of nolinearity. James with a poison rapier is lethal as hell, since he can move 5 squares and attack and poison anyone on the field at any time, whereas gorath with a decent weapon can chop a tree down, or is very accurate with ranged attacks. For instance, you could have SERIOUSLY different strategies based on what spells you liked, and what magic items you used, or melee versus ranged attacks. It is linear, plotwise, but there is lots of room for exploration and the stat development is well thought out and interesting. Tried it recently, but had a tough time getting into it. Neat puzzles, fun sidequests, definately a winner.Ĭan't say much for Return to Krondor. A nice turn-based combat system to round things off, with the right amount of combat. I was really entertained with the combat engine. Storyline felt solid and I enjoyed how the storyline split up in the 'one group goes off to an incredibly different world, while another group does something more down-to-earth', which seems to be a staple of Feist storyline. Patrus felt that he came a bit out of left field tho'. T'was rather neat to see Locklear and heer James 10 years after the whole Sethanon ordeal, and the new characters were a welcome addition. Although I usually kinda dislike when the party characters are pre-created, it worked this time around. Overall, I have to say that I was one of the more addictive gaming experiences I had in a long time.
(tried it before when it was released for free, but me poor brain couldn't completely comprehend the game, the combat, this things called RPG, nor realise that one had to right-click rations before continuing) I was really in the mood of the whole Midkemian world, and tried this game for real once. Recently played Betrayal At Krondor after going through the first three Riftwar books, as well as the 'Honoured Enemy' book. (new bloke and all that, heya, hai, let's keep this unpainful and let's carry on)
